Last night I got a chance to check out the TV Academy’s Game of Thrones event at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood (thanks to my gracious host, Maurice LaMarche from Futurama). It was a star studded event and included Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Kit Harrington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and of course, author George R.R. Martin.

During the event, a Twitter question was posed about who each actor would choose to play if age and sex were no barrier. Here’s what the cast had to say.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister): “I would like to play … Tyrion Lannister. [laughs] Not because I think I could do it better, but it’s a fantastic character. That’s why.” Peter Dinklage laughed saying, “It’s a new reality show. Who can play Tyrion?”

Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark): “I think I would love to go back in time and play Arya, actually. Yeah, I would. I love that character. I think she’s amazing. Hands down to Maisie. She’s an amazing character. Her strength and vulnerability is amazing. And just her braveness. Yeah.”

Kit Harrington (Jon Snow): “I think this is probably because of the way Jerome Flynn plays him, but I love Bronn. He’s got the best one-liners. And he’s just, I find, a brilliant character in the books, the character that George wrote. But also, the way Jerome plays him, I think, is amazing.”

David Benioff (series creator, executive producer): “Khal Drogo, definitely.” Benioff proceeded to tell a story about when Jason Momoa came back to set in Season 2 and the very drunken dinner he had with Momoa, Emilia Clarke and Weiss. Apparently Momoa crushed his hand during a game of mercy.

D.B. Weiss (series creator, executive producer): “Who would I play? I would absolutely save the show by refusing to play any character whatsoever. No good could come of that.”

Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister):  “Probably Don Draper,” he said to a laughing audience. “Oh s—. Wrong show. Well, if Mr. Benioff is playing Khal Drogo, I’ll play Daenerys Targaryan. Picture it.” He mimed girlie gestures while the rest of the cast howled. “Emilia’s going to watch this with just a dead face..”

Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister): “I wouldn’t give Cersei up.” Dinklage said, “Oh, come on.” She replied, “I wouldn’t! I f—— love it.”

George R.R. Martin (writer “A Song of Ice and Fire”): “Well, I do play all the characters,” he laughed, “When I write them, one after another. But if they had to film me, I guess the only one that I could play would be Samwell Tarley. Or maybe Hot Pie. Hot Pie!”

Maisie Williams (Arya Stark): “I really like Arya, but it would be really cool to wear nice clothes and have nice hair and stuff. I think Daenerys kind of captures a lot of that, and still gets to have fun and ride horses and stuff. And have the nice hair and clothes. So yeah! Daenerys,” she giggled.

Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark): “I would love to play Joffrey,” she said to a howling crowd. “Because, you know, you can only be beat up so often. Then you want to beat someone else up. So yeah, I guess that would be pretty …. fun. Yeah,” she laughed.

So guys, are you losing your mind with excitement? I’ll have more highlights from the Game of Thrones event as the days go on. We’re so close! War is coming!
