We here in the states haven’t even begun watching Season 3 of Downton Abbey, and it’s already been renewed for Season 4 in the U.K by ITV. This means you’re going to have to spend additional months trying not to get spoilers on Twitter. For those of you who haven’t seen the show yet, trust me; those friends who have been driving you nuts, telling you that, oh my gosh, you have to watch this show are totally right.
This was Downton Abbey‘s highest rated season to date, so the renewal is no surprise.” ITV’s director of drama Laura Mackie said,”We’re thrilled to welcome back a drama series that has become a much anticipated part of all our lives every autumn and achieved success around the globe. Creator, writer and executive producer Julian Fellowes and the production team, led by Gareth [Neame] and the producer Liz Trubridge, never rest on their laurels and have exciting plans for the fourth series.”
The new season will take place in the early 1920′s. Season 3 of “Downton Abbey” premieres on PBS on Jan. 6, 2013.
